This is a 1938-D WALKING LIBERTY HALF DOLLAR – NGC MS-63 CAC STAR, PQ++, LOOKS PROOFLIKE!. A really scarce coin for the collector who understands what this is. NGC awarded this coin a Star designation based on the heavily die polished fields that give this coin a virtually prooflike look. And, importantly, CAC agreed with the grade and designation. According to the census, NGC has only graded 3 Stars at this grade level and only 9 total 1938-Ds with the Star designation (we don’t know if the stars were awarded due to pretty color or the prooflike features). We can find no 1938-D Halves graded Prooflike in the NGC census, so this coin is certainly special to the person who understands this coin!
