Description
This is a 1912-S $10 INDIAN GOLD EAGLE – PCGS MS-64 CAC, BLAZING LUSTER & PQ! TOUGH DATE!. According to Akers, the 1912-S is very difficult to acquire in MS-63 or higher condition. When factoring in both “eye appeal” and quality into the picture, the 1912-S emerges as one of the absolute rarest issues in the series. Because most 1912-S $10 Indians are poorly struck and unattractive, finding an example that is both attractive and high grade becomes nearly impossible. Overall, the 12-S is one of the least attractive issues of the series.
However, the present specimen is the welcome exception to the rule. Conservatively graded MS-64 by PCGS and awarded a green CAC sticker for it’s originality and overall quality, this piece is premium in all regards. Fully lustrous and minimally abraded, the present example more resembles a 1926 or 1932 $10 Indian than a rare key-date. The strike is strong, with hair and feather detail crisp and bold, the color is medium to deep orange gold and the luster rolls brilliantly on this virtual gem specimen. No, this is not the “cheapest” 1912-S $10 you will find. But we dare you to find a more attractive example for the money, as the few Gem 65 specimens known to exist can approach $50,000.
Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
