Description
This is a 1898 MCKINLEY SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR, CHICAGO PEACE JUBILEE 3.5″ BUTTON. NR-MINT. This RARE 3 1/2″ button and stand was given out at the October 18-19 Chicago Peace Jubilee to commemorative the ending of the Spanish-American War. The phrase “WHO DID IT? WE DID” adorns the button along with vignettes of the Charge up San Juan Hill and the Battle of Manilla Bay. The 5 men imaged on the button are President McKinley, Admirals Dewey & Schley, Teddy Roosevelt and Secretary of the Navy Long. This large and graphic event button rare appears on the market, and when it does, often has condition and fading issues. The present button is NEAR-MINT with the original easel stand attached. There is no staining or spots, and the celluloid is in outstanding condition. Some very minor fading can be noted at the 12 o’clock area, but this is likely “as-made” and is much lighter than we have seen on these in the past. A really neat & early celluloid commemorative button! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
