This is a 1863 LIBERTY SEATED HALF DOLLAR COPPER PATTERN, J-341, GOD OUR TRUST – NGC PF-64 BN, REALLY PRETTY (PRETTIER IN HAND)! A lovely, gemmy example of this R-5 Pattern. According to records, 30 of these were struck (along with 30 examples), as the U.S. Mint prepared to add phrasing of God to the coins. Eventually, this became the phrase “In God We Trust” in 1864. Population 2, with 4 finer. This example, with reflective surfaces, has very pretty iridescent red and green undertones. A lovely piece!
