ONE OF THE MORE STRIKING DESIGNS FROM 1859 AND A DEPARTURE FROM THE STANDARD DESIGNS OF 1859 (WHICH EXIST IN VARIOUS DENOMINATIONS), JUDD ORIGINALLY CATALOGED THIS VARIETY AS AN R-6, BUT IT IS NOW THOUGHT TO BE A HIGH R-5. NONETHELESS, IT IS RARE. THE COIN ITSELF BOASTS ORIGINAL VIOLET-GOLD TONING WITH PASTELS DANCING ACROSS THE UNDERLYING, WATERY PROOF FIELDS.
