This is a 1803 DRAPED BUST HALF DOLLAR, CHOICE AU DETAILS, ORIGINAL PATINA & GREAT LOOKING! Not every coin in the hobby is destined for a third party holder. There are plenty of coins, this one included, that have great aesthetic appeal, but also have an issue which precludes grading. At first glance, this piece appears original CHOICE AU, but has evidence of extremely minor tooling (the interiors of several star radials have been expertly reengraved). This is so minor, that it is a very easy one to miss! The surfaces are 100% original w/ “skin” consistent with a mid-range AU and strong underlying luster.
