Labor Day Weekend Ohio State Coin Show a Perennial Fan Favorite
It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down. As the old cliche inquires, where did the time go? In many people’s minds, Labor Day marks summer’s last hurrah; with the start of college football, the kids going back to school and families sneaking in their last vacations, this weekend symbolizes the transition of both a season and a mind-set. Numismatically, it also signifies the beginning of a usually-active, fall coin show season. And what better way to kick off this period than with The Ohio State Coin Show sponsored by the Central Ohio Numismatic Organization in Dublin, OH (a wonderful, quaint hamlet just outside of Columbus)? The Green Hats, as the derby-wearing promoters like to call themselves, do a phenomenal job with both preparation and marketing of this show. The end result is a regional coin show that manages to pack the Crowne Plaza ballroom with collectors for the duration of the show. This despite the aforementioned distractions, not of which the least for this area, is the kickoff of the Ohio State football season. This is one of the few shows that Rob and Robbie stick around for Sunday. We just never know what opportunities that the closing day may afford us. The guys will be set up at their usual location, in the right-front corner of the main bourse floor. Just look for their giant BUYING, BUYING, BUYING sign, visible from all vantage points in the room. With an exciting and extremely active ANA show now in the history books, this will be the first preview of some their many new Chicago purchases. If you haven’t given The Reeded Edge’s inventory a look-see in a while, hopefully this upcoming weekend will serve as your opportunity. Of course, the guy’s continual buying crusade will be in full swing, so if you have any numismatic properties for sale, whether it’s a single piece or an entire collection, The Reeded Edge would love to be your go-to dealer. Our usual open checkbook policy will be in force-as many of you already know, money is NEVER a problem for the right coins. As we alluded to previously, Dublin is a great town, and especially so if you’re an ice cream lover. So, what better way to spend this upcoming holiday weekend? Seriously, if you’ve never attended this robust coin show, consider giving it a try. We don’t think that you will be disappointed!
